Striper Surfs in Pool

“During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.”
Matthew 14: 25


Pictured above is our cat Striper who is shown surfing on his float in our pool. Striper likes water, and has been known to place his right paw in the water as if he were ready to take the plunge. Of course we all know that cats don’t swim, just like people don’t walk on water.

However, it may surprise you that there is a breed of cats that do like to swim, The Turkish Van cats. For more information there are several web sites about this breed of cats on the internet.

Some cats do like to swim!

Just as much as some cats swim, I truly believe two men walked on the water, the Lord Jesus Christ, and Peter. Our Lord came walking on the water to the disciples in a moment of distress to calm not only the sea, but to bring peace to their hearts. It was through a “little faith” that Peter was able to step out of the boat and walk toward the Lord before being rescued again by our Lord before sinking.

Every day I witness that strange breed of persons called Members of Cornerstone Baptist Church who walk on the water. They do it through sometimes a small amount of faith.

Many serve weekly through committees, teach classes, give money, serve as singers, greeters, deacons, etc…all serving sometimes through just a small amount of faith. It is amazing how God has blessed our faith and our efforts together.

The Johanson family, some of our newest members, shared with our church family about their Medical Mission trip to Honduras. The entire family went, Bill, Linda, Erica, and Tyler, and the Lord did a great work through them.

Inside you will see pictures of Belle Treadway celebrating her 90th birthday at our church. God has blessed Belle with many days on this earth, but even more so with a loving family. Over forty family members were present to join our church in worship and celebrate this gift of life of such a special person.

Moreover, there are pictures of our Church worshiping, fellowshipping together, eating together. These are the kind of things the early New Testament Church did on almost a daily basis making sure that everyone had something to eat and their needs were met.

Most recently we baptized four persons into our church. These persons had responded to the gospel of Jesus Christ, just as did Peter, Paul, James, Dr. Luke, and Lydia. They all responded by faith in Jesus Christ privately and publicly, and followed our Lord in Believer’s Baptism. How we rejoice to see that our Lord is still at work, comes to where we are, and through our response of “small faith” continues to perform miracles.

Article V, Membership, Section 2
(d) Acceptance of members from another denomination or church fellowship. Members may be accepted by a vote of church membership upon a statement of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and upon a satisfaction with Believer’s baptism (i.e. baptism occurring after the candidate was of an accountable age), even if the mode of baptism was other than immersion. However, the mode of baptism for all members requesting baptism shall be by immersion unless a waiver is granted under circumstance set forth in paragraph (C) of article V, section 2.

3. Vote on Church Pianist

4. Nominating Committee will present recommendations for Officers & Teachers for 2002-2003.

Cripple River Chapel - Nome, Alaska

Our Old Pulpit

Pictured above is our old pulpit now being used by the Cripple River Chapel in Nome, Alaska. Nome, Alaska is a small community that folks visit during the summer weeks to mind for gold. They say it is not the end of the world, but you can see the end of the world from there. The Christians had worshiped in the local saloon until two years ago when enough building materials arrived by barge and the chapel was built by volunteer labor. This year among many items on the barge was our pulpit which replaced their stump. Isn’t it wonderful to be a part of the miracle that God is about in Nome, Alaska?
